When you are setting up a new PS5 for the first time, you will be asked if you want to transfer your data during the setup process. However, at first, you can ignore this stage and move the information sometime later on. It might take long hours before all the information is transferred depending on its size. Step 2:
Connect your PS4 to your PS5

On your PS4 sign in with the same account you will use on your new PS5.
Connect both consoles through Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable in the house this means connecting is easier to do over Wi-Fi; besides an Ethernet cable will be needed for joining two systems.
(Optional) Connect these two systems using an Ethernet cable. However, it’s not necessary because everything can be achieved through Wi-Fi and it speeds up the process.

Choose the PS4 from which you would like to transfer data. If this is the only one in your house, then it’s a no-brainer. For those with more than one PS4 connected to the same network or have had other consoles before, they must know their PlayStation 4 ID.
To find out PS4 ID go to Settings→System→System Information. You will see it written here as your “PS4” followed by some digits automatically. Rename your console from this point so that data transfer becomes faster.

When you see “Prepare for Data Transfer” on your PS5 Power off button Hold down Power Button of PS4 until you hear a beep (approximately 1 second). Read and follow guidelines provided by Sony Inc.

As for the discs for PS4, just insert this disc into your PS5 and it will download into your system storage. It depends on whether you purchased the digital edition or have the one with a disc drive.
