Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection by Aspyr has brought two Star Wars Battlefront games from the 2000s by Pandemic Studios to modern devices. In addition to remastering the base game’s wide range of content, Aspyr added more bonus features such as characters and levels to create a full version of Star Wars: Battlefront that would appeal to both beginners and experienced players.

As well as providing two new playable characters, Asajj Ventress and Kit Fisto, the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection will feature maps that had previously only been available through Xbox Live DLC or as patches for PC. These territories are familiar to those who played on the original Xbox or PC, but they have never been seen on PlayStation consoles or Nintendo before.

Yavin 4: Arena is situated in a clearing within the jungle and, as its name implies, involves battling it out in an ancient arena located at the center of it, among other ruins. Formerly this map could only be accessed through Star Wars: Battlefront and Star Wars: Battlefront 2 via Xbox-exclusive DLC. This is a simple level with five Command Posts; two on either side of the east-west boxes, one at the north end of the map called Altar, another southwards known as Gate and lastly there is Arena post right at the centre of the map.

This part of Yavin was not shown in both original trilogy or prequels. However, Genndy Tartakovsky’s original 2003 Clone Wars mini-series had shown it where Anakin Skywalker fought Asajj Ventress, a Sith from Dathomir. On this map Asajj Ventress and Anakin Skywalker were playable which allowed for a recreation of this confrontation thus making another good improvement over its predecessor that did not permit use of either character on this map.

Rhen Var: Citadel Is An Ancient Structure Atop A Snow-Covered Mountain

Located on the outer rim of Rhen Var, a frozen planet where the Great Sith War occurred about 4000 years before the collapse of the Republic. This level is accessible from Star Wars: Battlefront’s Historical Campaign and is included in Xbox DLC for Star Wars: Battlefront II.

The snow caped peak of the mountain has an old ruin with several command posts built into it; these comprise a large courtyard by a four story tower at its base, an observatory, an ancient crypt, the Citadel’s central keep and a watch to south of map. Due to this reason, it is more suitable for close-quarters engagements but there are also a few sniper spots higher up especially in that above mentioned tower. On this map you will also find some Laser Turrets which can provide extra firepower.

The second Rhen Var based map, Rhen Var: Harbour, sees players navigate through narrow, cramped ice caves and do battle in the open around three main buildings on its courtyard, The Lighthouse, Citadel and Fort. When Star Wars: Battlefront’s Clone Wars campaign was later released in Star Wars: Battlefront 2 – Xbox DLC Pack the gamers were treated to this map.

Each of them contains a Command Post with the Western Landing Zone, Ice Caves, Lighthouse, Citadel and Fort. While CIS has command over Citadel and Forts; the Republic possesses Western Landing Zone and Ice Caves meaning that the Lighthouse is left out.

But it should be noted that unlike some of the other maps in that pack which have undergone several changes for Star Wars: Battlefront 2 such as replacement or removal of certain vehicles, droids and turrets therefore ensuring different experience across different titles for players. It’s an excellent all-round map even for newbies because most weapons found are generally good except its variety from its tight cave corridors to its open snow-covered plains making it quite an interestingly mixed fight.

Bespin: Cloud City Has Many References To The Empire Strikes Back's Final Act

In the Historical Campaign mode of Star Wars: Battlefront, the first game, Bespin: Cloud City map was there but just as an exclusive DLC pack within Star Wars: Battlefront 2 for Xbox. The map is built around a courtyard in its center, which has many tall buildings connected by numerous bridges that lead to various command posts making it a great place for snipers who prefer playing as Marksman and can take out enemies from long distances.

As expected, the Cloud City map has references to the last scenes of The Empire Strikes Back that Star Wars fans might appreciate. Some examples are like the Carbonite Chamber (being used as a command post) – wherein Han Solo was encased in Carbonite – and a huge pit that looks similar to what Luke fell into after his fight against Darth Vader culminating in him finding out about Vader’s true identity; these moments can be replicated in both games due to their appearances in Star Wars: Battlefront since Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader are playable characters in Star Wars: Battlefront 2.

Tatooine: Jabba's Palace Is The Star Wars: Battlefront Series' Most Menacing Location

Jabba’s Palace is the dwelling place of Jabba the Hutt, a notorious gangster situated on Tatooine planet. In Return of the Jedi, one visit to Jabba’s Palace ensues just at the beginning when they attempted to rescue Han Solo from his captivity in Carbonite. In Star Wars: Battlefront game, some aspects of this episode are repeated such as throne room of Jabba and the Rancor Pit with that enormous monstrous monster as well as droid torture chamber where C-3PO and R2-D2 are captured.

Jabba's Palace was added into Star Wars: Battlefront via Xbox DLC and PC patch before becoming part of its main release which is Star Wars: Battlefront 2. However, it should be noted that this map did not appear neither in Campaign nor in Galactic Conquest for both games.

Arguably the most inhospitable and scariest map in all Star Wars: Battlefront series – Jabba's Palace has dark twisted passages filled with echoes of robot screams coming from torture chambers. When playing on this map or encountering relentless Gamorrean Guards who mercilessly swing their vibroaxes against anyone without any bias there can only be close quarter fighting.

As for the Rancor, it is not moving and will just stay there unless a player walks in front of it. However, if players can lead Gamorrean Guards towards its path and have a good sense of timing they will be quickly dispatched instead.

All those extra maps are not really new to experienced Star Wars: Battlefront players even if they did not play them on Xbox when the original games came out because they were still part of one of two titles in their basic form as well. Nevertheless, Aspyr's choice in bringing back the bonus versions to be played on both titles within the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection enables gamers to experiment with different Hero and Villain characters from the games thereby making it possible for an enhanced unified feeling across all the games.
